Über Marina and The Diamonds
Marina and the Diamonds (manchmal stilisiert als Marina & the Diamonds) ist der Künstlername der walisischen Singer-Songwriterin Marina Lambrini Diamandis (* 10. Oktober 1985 in Abergavenny, Wales; griechisch Μαρίνα-Λαμπρινή Διαμάντη; Aussprache: [ðʝaˈmadi]). Der Zusatz „The Diamonds“ beruht auf Diamandis’ bürgerlichem Familiennamen und steht nicht für ihre Begleitband. Sie selbst beschreibt es folgendermaßen: “I’m Marina. You are the diamonds.”Sie wurde im Vereinigten Königreich bekannt, nachdem sie bei der jährlichen Umfrage BBC Sound of 2010 als vielversprechendster Newcomer Platz zwei belegte.
